The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) administers pensions for Scottish Teachers, Police, Firefighters' and National Health Service employees on behalf of the Scottish Government. We're responsible for protecting the financial futures of over half a million of Scotland’s key workers - that's roughly 1 in 10 people in Scotland.

The office is based in the Scottish Borders on the outskirts of Tweedbank (opens in a new tab).

The train station is a short two minute walk away and offers regular services to and from Edinburgh Waverley.

Working at SPPA

As an agency of the Scottish Government, working at SPPA has its benefits. Here's a few:

Our Culture

"Here at the SPPA we are aiming to build an environment where our people are empowered to develop their careers and take more control of their work-life balance. This means creating the right opportunities for our people to progress themselves - and build a career with the SPPA and Scottish Government.

We are based in a magnificent setting in the Scottish Borders and we’re cultivating a working environment that matches our setting. One where people can learn, develop and play a key part in delivering our Vision – one that is linked closely to the Scottish Government’s National Performance Framework."

Garry Cossar - Head of People, Strategy and Communications

Equal Opportunities

At the SPPA we want our workforce to be representative of Scottish society and we also strive to be a workplace where people are welcomed and valued for the contribution they make.

We support flexible working and encourage a diverse workforce. We are also committed to removing any barriers that there may be to people applying for our jobs and aim  to offer support and make  any reasonable adjustments to allow full  participation in the process.

What our colleagues say

“Family and friends are really important to me and working at SPPA allows me to spend more time with them. Flexible working allowed me to support my son in his football journey”

“The people here are friendly, easy to talk to and approachable”

"The opportunity to get experience in a different department that you're interested in is there and the process is really smooth"

"I saw the modern apprenticeship at SPPA as a good opportunity and the process of becoming a full time member of staff afterwards was really easy”
