The Firefighters' Pension Modeller
The Firefighters' Pension Modeller is temporarily unavailable while it is updated with new factors and assumptions and then tested. We anticipate this update will take up to four weeks.
During this time, you will not be able to access the modeller. All other areas of the SPPA website will continue to work as normal.
We understand this may be inconvenient and are grateful for your patience while we carry out these essential updates to ensure calculations remain accurate and up to date.

Annual Benefit Statements
2015 Remedy
On 1 April 2022 the legacy Firefighter Schemes were closed to any future pension build-up and members were moved into the reformed 2015 pension scheme.
If you are eligible you will have the chance to choose between your legacy scheme (final salary) or reformed (CARE) scheme benefits when you retire.
Find out more about the 2015 Remedy from our Remedy Hub.
Annual Benefit Statement for members who are not eligible for 2015 Remedy
If you are not eligible for 2015 Remedy, you will receive an Annual Benefit Statement by the end of August each year.
Annual Benefit Statement for members who are eligible for 2015 Remedy
If you are eligible you will have the chance to choose between your legacy or reformed scheme benefits when you retire.
If you are working and contributing to your pension or have deferred your benefits you will receive an Annual Benefit Statement (ABS) combined with a Remediable Service Statement (ABS-RSS). This will provide an estimate of your benefits in both the legacy (final salary) and reformed (CARE) schemes.
If you do not get an ABS-RSS
To manage the complexity of the programme and volume of cases, the SPPA has been developing new systems. This is being done in parallel with the issuing of cases the system is currently configured to process. Further system configurations are required to provide accurate statements for all cases, especially those that require additional processing work.
If you do not receive an ABS-RSS, we will be in touch with you.
These are some of the scenarios that require additional processing work:
- Transferred in service in the remedy period
- Added Pension
- Where there are data inconsistencies
If you have a deferred pension, you will get a Deferred Benefit Remediable Service Statement (DB-RSS). Statements will be issued in phases from April and not all members will receive theirs at the same time. This is later than we had hoped and we apologise for the delay. By commencing this work from April, your statement will contain your deferred pension benefits revalued up to 2026.
Your DB-RSS will be available to view on Engage, our new online member portal. Create an account or login to update your contact information so that you don't miss important information about your pension.
Accessing your Annual Benefit Statement
If you're in active employment, you can register for our online service where you can access and print copies of your annual benefit statement.
Your ABS estimates your pension benefits accrued up to the end of the most recent financial year based on your pensionable service and / or salary details as confirmed by your employer.

If you require an estimate to support with retirement planning or other life events, an estimate can be provided if you are:
- At retirement age and ready/thinking about retirement
- Within six months of retirement
- Requiring an estimate pending redundancy, divorce, ill- health or for mortgage applications
- Are not able to use the calculators
If you meet this criteria, please contact us.
Ill health retirement
If you've ended your employment on the grounds of ill health, we can provide an estimate of what your benefits will be.
If you've already left the Fire Service with your benefits preserved in the scheme and you're too ill to carry out any form of employment, we can also estimate your likely benefits.
While there's no minimum age for requesting an estimate of ill health retirement benefits, they can only be paid subject to your application being assessed and approved by an independent Medical Adviser - see our Firefighters' Ill health retirement section.
2015 Remedy
Some members who are paying into a pension and were eligible for Remedy did not receive an ABS in 2023. They will get an ABS by 31 August 2025 which will include their options under Remedy. This is the most up to date projection offered by the SPPA.
Authorising a financial advisor to contact the SPPA
If you are in active employment and require information for your financial advisor, please access your ABS online.
If you have left the Fire Service
We are able to accept requests from financial advisers as long as they can provide a mandate, signed by you authorising the release of the requested information.
