About Police pensions in Scotland
There are currently three Police pension schemes in operation. The two earlier schemes (Police Pension Scheme 1987 and New Police Pension Scheme 2006) are ‘final salary’ schemes. These are now closed to new members and the current Police Pension Scheme 2015 is a Career Average Revalued Earnings scheme. All new Police officers in Scotland are automatically enrolled into this scheme. Some members have benefits in more than one section of the scheme so it’s worth looking at all the sections which apply to you.
