The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) welcomes the continued engagement with the Scottish Parliament’s Finance and Public Administration Committee as it considers progress on delivering the McCloud 2015 Remedy across Scotland’s public service pension schemes, including those for teachers, NHS staff, police officers and firefighters.

The SPPA has presented written and oral evidence to the Committee in December 2025 and is providing a further update on 17 March 2026. You can find out more by visiting the Scottish Parliament website

The McCloud Remedy is a significant, UKwide programme intended to remove the age discrimination identified in 2018 following the UK Government's reform of all public service pension schemes. The SPPA remains committed to implementing the Remedy accurately and fairly, and to communicating transparently with all eligible members.

The SPPA is also presenting at the Public Audit Committee on 17 March 2026 following the publication of the Audit Scotland Section 22 report. SPPA CEO Stephen Pathirana will be joined by Lesley Fraser (DG Corporate) to cover issues relating to the report. You can find out more by visiting the Scottish Parliament website

We welcome the opportunity to work closely with Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Government and our scheme stakeholders as we progress this important work. Delivering the best possible service to our members is at the heart of everything we do.
