Engage, our new online pension portal, is now available to police and firefighter members and we would encourage you to create an account and login.
What you can do on Engage
You can use your Engage account to:
- view your pension documents, such as Annual Benefit Statements or pension payslips
- view and update your personal details
- view and update your bank details if you’re retired
- contact the SPPA directly through your account
We will be adding new features regularly and if you create an account you will be one of the first to hear about updates.

Before you begin
Please read the ‘use of personal data’ section and tick the box to confirm you understand how we will use your data. We may use your contact details to occasionally send you important information about your pension. We will not share your personal data with anyone else.

Step one: confirm your details
Click ‘Let’s begin’ to start setting up your account. To confirm that it’s you, the system will ask for the following details:
- your surname
- your date of birth
- your National Insurance Number
Step two: verify your email address
After entering your details, we will send you an email. Open the email and click on the link to continue with the registration process. If you do not receive an email from us, please check your spam folder before trying again in a few minutes.
If you no longer have access to the email address we have on record for you, you can take the following steps:
- request an activation code – we will send you a letter with a unique code you can enter to verify your identity.
- contact us and request for your email address to be updated. Once updated, you can try again.
Step three: creating a password
To finish setting up your account, you will need to enter a password. Your password should be at least eight characters long and include a minimum of:
- one number
- one uppercase letter
- one lowercase letter
- one special character (e.g. + = $ % # & !)
Having trouble creating an account
Engage uses data provided by your employer to verify your identity. If you are having trouble creating your account, please check that:
- you are using the correct surname – if you have recently changed your surname, try entering your previous surname
- you have entered your National Insurance Number correctly – if you don’t know your National Insurance Number, use the free GOV.UK service or check your details with your employer
- your date of birth is correct and inserted in the DD/MM/YYYY format – for example 01/06/1975
